At wtech22 Heating and Cooling, we recently responded to an AC repair service call in Trumbull, CT for a system that wasn’t cooling properly. The homeowner reported poor airflow and high indoor temperatures.
After inspection, we discovered that the condenser unit (outdoor AC) was short cycling—rapidly turning on and off. This behavior is usually triggered by low refrigerant pressure, which had caused the low-pressure safety switch to activate. That safety feature shut down the system to prevent damage.
In addition, we found a weak and rusted capacitor that was around 8 years old. It was no longer delivering the proper voltage to support efficient operation. We replaced the capacitor and added about 4 pounds of R-410A refrigerant to bring the system back to proper charge. This amount of refrigerant loss suggests a significant leak, which should be addressed to prevent future performance issues.
💡 If your AC isn’t cooling like it used to—or if your system turns on and off frequently—it’s likely due to low refrigerant or a failing component.
Low refrigerant levels can strain your system, increase energy bills, and cause long-term damage if not repaired promptly. Our team at wtech22 Heating and Cooling provides fast, honest, and professional AC repair services in Trumbull and surrounding areas.
